Biography
As a child I spent many happy hours with my father in his commercial photography studio. We enjoyed each other’s company and the magical process of photography. With such a childhood, it is not surprising that I decided to become a photographer. I began my professional training in Bern at the age of 16 and continued my studies in London and Paris. By the age of 20 I had clients and my own production studio in Switzerland.
I see photography as a great way to study the way human beings interact with nature and architecture. How we exist as bodies in these spaces is a source of inspiration in my process. Working on a commercial or an artistic project, the fascination with this fundamentally human way of seeing informs my work. An architectural commission and a personal project, such as making portraits of people in the American South, both provide an opportunity for discovery.
Like all serious photographers, I am constantly seeking a unique image that will capture my particular way of seeing a unique moment in time. For this reason, I like to experiment rather than depending on the familiar and in this way each project provides a new opportunity for learning. Perhaps in the end I can say simply that making photographs is a source of great joy in my life and I feel very fortunate to be able to call myself a professional photographer.
